Waterproof nüvi 500 series

I hope this isn`t the replacement for the zumo :( was hoping for a bigger screen and voice command like the 860.

It cannot possibly in a million years be a replacement for the Zumo as it does not apparently support planning routes off-line on a PC and uploading them to the GPS.
Perhaps someone would like to read the whole review to check this out.

It appears to support 1000 waypoints, 10 routes and takes the MicroSD card, so it seems quite useful.

If it doesn't include Mapsource for PC then it is of limited interest I would think.

Does it inlcude a bike mount cradle etc.. or are these extras?

I've just bought a Nuvi 255 for the car. If the 550's anywhere near as good as the 255 It will be well worth £300.

No it can't be. It has no audio output socket - so can't be connected to an intercom. Instead it has an 'internal speaker' which will be of limited use on a bike.

Interesting question Nick .. AFAIK its not in the box .. but .. an accessory so you can have a Scooter mount (£34.99) and a Universal mounting cradle with power cable, bare wires (£29.99), as to origin of said parts, I expect its a Garmin cradle (much like Zumo ) but the mount is still a mystery I just hope it does not follow TomTom Rider 1.

Anyway, a RAM Nuvi 500 series cradle is expected, the mount bit is fairly straightforward if not easy and then a power lead, me thinks, Q~Power light which works with Nuvi anyway, so maybe sorted.

I seem recall some clown doing it with a Quest :augie

I can't recall any of my Garmin's (GPSIII, GPSV, SPIII, Quest, GPS60CS, 2610 and Zumo550) being rated at anything less than IPX7 standards (submersible in a metre depth of water for up to half an hour) so is there any reason a big deal is being made of the new 'waterproof' Nuvi :nenau

Or is it simply because this is the first outdoor Nuvi?

Nuvi 510 with bluetooth ?

From the recent IFA in Berlin and does he utter for use on motorbikes :augie
